Terms of Service

Last updated · April 29, 2026

Eudaimon is a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We build free, AI-supported tools — including the Eudai chat companion — to help people build self-awareness, emotional clarity, and independent thinking. By using our website, Eudai, or any other Eudaimon service (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If anything below is unclear, email contact@eudaimonai.org and we will answer in plain English.

1. Who can use Eudaimon

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. The Service is intended for adults. By using it you confirm that you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account or use Eudai, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

2. What Eudai is — and is not

Eudai is an AI assistant. It is software, not a person. It uses large language models and a curated knowledge base to reflect ideas back to you, suggest practices, and support journaling and goal-setting.

Eudai is explicitly:

  • Not a therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, doctor, lawyer, financial advisor, or any other licensed professional.
  • Not a substitute for medical care, mental-health care, or any clinical service.
  • Not a crisis service. Eudai cannot guarantee a timely or appropriate response in an emergency.

AI responses can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Use your own judgment, and consult qualified professionals for medical, legal, financial, or other expert advice.

3. If you are in crisis

If you are thinking about hurting yourself, hurting someone else, or you feel that your safety is at risk, please reach out to a real person right now. In the United States you can call or text 988(Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7). If you are outside the US, please contact your local emergency number or the nearest hospital. Do not rely on Eudai in an emergency.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Harm yourself or others, or facilitate harm.
  • Harass, defame, threaten, or impersonate any person.
  • Solicit specific medical, legal, or other professional advice you intend to act on without consulting a qualified professional.
  • Submit content that violates the law or someone else's rights.
  • Probe, scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to disrupt the Service or its underlying providers.
  • Use the Service to train a competing AI model without our written permission.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that AI-supported reflection is provided to support your own thinking, and that you remain responsible for the choices you make. You assume the ordinary risks of using free, AI-supported tools — including the risk that AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the messages, journal entries, reflections, and other content you share with Eudai (your "Content"). By using the Service, you grant Eudaimon a limited license to process your Content in order to operate the Service — for example, to generate Eudai's replies, to compute your progress on our growth dimensions, and to improve safety and quality. We do not sell your Content. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture, including which third-party processors handle your Content.

6. Free service, changes, and availability

The Service is offered free of charge as part of our nonprofit mission. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time. We may also limit, throttle, or suspend access to keep the Service stable or safe. We will give reasonable notice for material changes when we can.

7. Third-party services

Eudaimon depends on third-party providers (for example, hosting, AI inference, storage, and email). Their own terms apply to the portions of the Service they power, and we are not responsible for outages or errors caused by them. The Privacy Policy lists who we use and for what.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind — express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Eudaimon does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Eudaimon and its volunteers, contractors, directors, and providers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including any decision you make based on Eudai's output. Our total aggregate liability to you for any direct damages will not exceed the greater of (a) one hundred US dollars (US$100) or (b) the fees you have paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits — in that case, the limits apply to the greatest extent permitted.

10. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Eudaimon from claims arising out of your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and request account / data deletion via contact@eudaimonai.org. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or put others at risk.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Hawaii, except where applicable consumer-protection laws give you the right to bring a claim where you live.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where reasonable, post a notice on the site. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
